VBS CAMP 2026 PRAISE REPORT

We praise God and thank Him for blessing us with another wonderful VBS Camp this year where we were able to show and share the love of Jesus with His precious children. We had 41 children and over 20 adult volunteers who attended. Plus, 12 teachers from Pastor Hung’s church in Saigon who led Worship and taught the Bible classes. Our group was smaller this year, but very enthusiastic. The vast majority of children were already believers, but they were strengthened in their walk with the Lord. God filled us with joy as 2 sisters asked Jesus into their heart as their Lord and Savior (story below). To God be the glory! We thank each of you who lifted these children and our VBS Camp before our Heavenly Father in prayer and financially supported a child to attend. Take joy knowing God is using you to make such a difference in these children’s lives learning how much Jesus loves them.

KINGDOM ADDITIONS

Our prayer has always been for God to use us to help expand His kingdom one child at a time. This VBS God gave Mai the opportunity to share Jesus with 2 sisters (Hoai 15 years old and Uyen 10 years old). Uyen was very excited to hear about Jesus, but Hoai’s initial reaction was “I’m already a Catholic“(generational). Mai shared the Gospel with Uyen and she prayed to ask Jesus into her heart. Hoai, who had been listening the whole time, told Mai “I’ve never asked Jesus into my heart”. Mai then asked Hoai if she would like to pray now? Hoai nodded her head yes. Making sure she had Hoai’s complete focus, Mai then shared the Gospel with Hoai and she too asked Jesus into her heart.

WELCOME PHAO-LO (PAUL)

Quang and Nhu Y have been praying for a baby for 6 years. On July 3rd God blessed them with a healthy baby boy weighing 6 lbs 8 ounces. They named him Phao-lo, which is Vietnamese for Paul. Nhu Y is doing fine after several hours of labor.

NEW SANCTUARY CEILING

Our 20 year old aluminum sheet ceiling in our sanctuary has started to show wear and tear, mainly rust from the high humidity and proximity to the South China Sea (2 miles). After VBS ended and the church was empty of all the pews and pulpit, we had the ceiling repainted. We then had a tile drop ceiling installed which should make the sanctuary a little cooler as we don’t have air conditioning. We also had the old ceiling lights removed and replaced with new in-tile lights. The new ceiling and lighting, coupled with the new interior paint job from the mission team last year, gives the church a new bright look hopefully for the next 20 years.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Please pray God’s protection on Hoai and Uyen as they return home to Saigon from any persecution from non-believing family/friends. May God give them strength to stand firm in their new faith and boldness to tell others about Jesus.

We have had a couple of meetings with Pastor Hung concerning the transition of the Binh Chau Church to the Evangelical Church Vietnam. What we thought would be a very easy process turns out to be quite complicated due to the laws and authorities here. We were informed it could take up to 2 years to finalize. As God guides us through this transition, we (JIV) will continue to operate as we have for the past 22 years. The only difference being ECV will provide/fund the pastor for the church. Please pray God will give us wisdom in all decisions to be made and favor with the authorities as He has done in the past.

We have so enjoyed spending a lot of time these past 2 months helping Loan take care of the children living in our orphanage/love houses. What a blessing to see how God is working in their lives as they grow spiritually and physically. They are all such lights for Jesus. Please pray God’s protection on them as they start another school year in about 3 weeks as they are the usually the only Christians in their class. Please pray God will give them the strength and desire not be influenced by the world, but He will use them to influence their classmates for Jesus.

Please pray for God to raise up a Vietnamese missionary or missionary family to move to Tanh Linh to disciple all the new believers there.

Please pray God will provide the funds for us to purchase a newer used van for the Binh Chau Church to pick up children/adults on Saturday for Children’s Church and Sunday Worship.

Please pray for travel mercies for us as we leave in 2 weeks (July 29) to return home to Tucson.

“How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you.” I Thessalonians 3:9
