OVCN MISSION TEAM 2025

“I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done.” Psalm 9:1 (NLT)

We had the honor and privilege of hosting our first Missions Team from our home church (Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene) in Tucson from July 13-25. What a blessing all 15 members of the team were to all of us here in Vietnam. They brought so much enthusiasm, energy, and joy of the Lord in showing and sharing the love of Jesus to all of us in everything they did. And, believe us when we say they did a lot! They painted the entire church inside and outside. Plus, the church restrooms. They started painting outside, and then when the rain came, they quickly moved inside to paint not missing a beat. They also painted the front perimeter fence inside and out. They repaired a big portion of the kitchen roof that was badly deteriorated and leaking. They sealed 3 leaky windows in our kitchen. And, they moved a dump truck of 50 pound rocks from the front of the church property to the construction site (about 50-60 yards) by hand and wheel barrel. In addition, OVCN blessed us with a water filtration system installed by Pastor Sal and Ace. But most of all, they showered around 20 children each day with the love of Jesus. They worked tirelessly each day in hot, humid weather always with a smile and plenty of laughter being heard. Led by team leaders Pastor Dave (OVCN Missions pastor) and his wife Michelle along with construction leaders Pastor Sal (OVCN Men’s Ministry pastor) and April, the team was organized, efficient, and focused on the work at hand. Team members Pastor Goose (OVCN High School pastor), Ace, Suz,, Wanda, Suzanne, Beckett, Lillian, Chase, Kirsten, Hailey, and Julian truly functioned as a team. You would never guess this was their first trip together. What shining stars for Christ each one of them were. What great witnesses they were to everyone they encountered that serving our Lord by serving others truly produces the Fruit of the Spirit. Thank you for setting the example all us should aspire to follow.

SUOI BANG VISIT

We were able to visit some of the church members who live in Suoi Bang where we are praying to re-establish a house church there in the near future. Please pray either Ha or Thi will open their house for the church to meet there

.

TANH LINH VISIT

We also arranged to take the Missions Team to the Montagnard village of Tanh Linh so they could distribute Dress a Girl dresses to the girls and cross necklaces to the boys. We asked our contact there (Hau) to gather just a few children at her home as not to raise problems with the local officials. When we arrived, we were greeted (overwhelmed) with over 50 people crowed on Hau’s patio and in her house waiting to see the “Americans”. It was the first time many of them had seen any foreigners at all. And yes, the local official was there, but God gave us favor with him to stay and visit. What a blessing for everyone there as the team interacted with the children and adults, gave out dresses and necklaces, bottles of green oil (a Vietnamese cure all for aches and pain) to the adults, and just smothered them with the love of Jesus. What joyful faces all around. The team’s visit continues to be the talk of the village as they so appreciated the team taking the time to visit them. The team’s great witness for Christ will be used by our Heavenly Father for us to reach more families in Tanh Linh going forward.

WE HAVE CLEAN WATER!

Over the years we have well documented all the water issues we have experienced trying to get clean drinking water on the church property, including digging 4 different wells. A few years ago we (you and us) began praying for God to bring someone outside of Vietnam with the skill to solve this problem, knowing what equipment we needed and how to install it. God answered our prayers through OVCN and the Missions Team. Before leaving for Vietnam, we met with Pastor Dave, Pastor Sal, Steve (all from OVCN) and Lewie, who has installed water filtration systems throughout the world on mission trips, to discuss our water issues. During the meeting Steve stated he and his wife were going on a cruise and had a one day stop outside of Saigon. The port was only about an hour away from Binh Chau. We made arrangements for the church to pick them up and visit the Binh Chau church. Steve assessed the water supply system and took samples of the water home with him. Pastor Sal then tested the water to see what the issues were. When the Missions Team arrived in Vietnam they had 3 suitcases containing a water filtration system and enough filters to last us several years. We praise our Lord for answered prayer and Him using the Missions Team to supply us with clean drinking water. To God be the Glory!

CONSTRUCTION BEGINS

Another answer to prayer we are excited to share is the construction work on our 2nd orphanage/love house has begun. This is another example of God giving us wisdom and discernment while He works out His plan and purpose for His work here. Our original contractor could not start until much later in the year causing us to seek a different one. Mai interviewed (I stayed away as the price goes up with me present) 3 builders and God certainly guided her to select the right one. He could start right away and finish in 2 ½ half months. This is day 18 and the amount of work they have accomplished is amazing. Plus, the quality of their work is so much better than our previous contractor. God is so good! All the time!

JESUS, OUR ROCK

Before construction began on our 2nd orphanage/love house, we buried a large rock and over 100 Scriptures as we did for our 1st orphanage/love house. This represents this building is built with Jesus as our Rock of Foundation and God’s Word to guide the children He brings to live in this building.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Please pray for unity between Pastor Tu and Kim. They have opposite personalities, which causes conflict at times. Please pray God will give them the desire and strength to serve together in peace and harmony.

Please continue to pray for Quang and his wife Nhu Y. They have such servant heart’s and God is using them in many ways to help His church.

Now that construction has started on the new building, we will focus on adding 2 more people to the church property deeds. Please pray with us as we seek God’s guidance in choosing the right people to oversee His work here when we “retire” (God willing, many years from now).

We praise our Lord and thank each of you for your faithful prayers and support that enables us to serve Him here in Vietnam on your behalf. Take joy in knowing God is using you to impact people’s lives for Jesus for all eternity.
