BACK IN BINH CHAU
Our first month here has been great, mostly spending time with the kids in our orphanage/love house along with all the church services (Wednesday Night Prayer Service, Thursday Witnessing Team visitations, Friday Small Group Bible Study, Saturday Children’s Church, Sunday Worship Service, and Youth Evangelism Training Sunday afternoon). That has kept us pretty busy. We thank God He gives us the energy to keep up with everything. This week we have been meeting to finalize all the VBS Camp preparations needed. Hard to believe VBS Camp is only a few days away. We now have 90 kids signed up to attend. Praise the Lord! And, 47 of these children are non-believers and most of them will be attending their very first VBS Camp. Plus, every child has a sponsor. God is so good! We thank each of you who have sponsored a child/children this year (or in past years) that enables us to show and share the love of Jesus with these precious children on your behalf all for God’s glory.
ORPHANAGE/LOVE HOUSE
God gives us so many blessings each time we return to Vietnam, but one that we truly cherish is serving the children living in our orphanage/love house. It’s exciting each time to see how God is working in their lives and they are maturing in their walk with the Lord. Each morning starts with worship, a short devotion, and prayer. Each night ends with reading 3 chapters in the Bible and prayer. The children just finished reading through the entire Bible this week. Even our 6-year-old twin girls can read the Bible. Plus, all 10 children sing in our youth choir who lead us in Sunday Worship and the 3 older ones are in leadership training to lead our Children’s Church. In addition, they all have their chores each day to help out Loan, our housemother. They are all shining lights for Jesus!
TANH LINH AT VBS CAMP
We now have 29 children from Tanh Linh registered to attend our VBS Camp. The vast majority of them are non-believers and this will be their first trip to Binh Chau. We made one last visit to Tanh Linh this week to finalize how many and where the bus will pick them up at different locations in Tanh Linh. We knew the children were coming, but we now have almost 40 adults who want to come also. Our first thought was to let them know our VBS Camp was for the children and our Christmas Outreaches for families. However, God reminded us, since He opened the door 2 1/2 years ago for us to go to this Montagnard village, around 90 people have asked Jesus into their heart. So, we gladly said come and hear about Jesus. Mai and I will teach the adults that come. Unfortunately, we didn’t budget for this large group. We’ll need to rent 2 buses, not one and feed an extra 40 people. We need about $1,300 to meet budget. If God puts it in your heart to help bless us to make up this shortage, please donate online at our website, jesusinvietnam.com.
VBS CAMP PREPARATIONS
It takes a lot of preparation to get ready for our VBS Camp, including taking all the equipment out of storage and cleaning it all up. Loan, our housemother, deacon Quang and his wife Nhu Y, have plenty of help from the children living in our orphanage/love house to complete this task.
NEW WATER PUMP NEEDED
The water pump that supplies water to our holding tank went out today. We thank God it happened today so we could get it replaced before VBS Camp begins next week.
FRIDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY
We have small group Bible study each Friday evening at one of the church member’s house. Our “small” group consisted of 27 people when we met at Lan’s house a couple of weeks ago.
TEACHING THE CHILDREN
PRAYER REQUESTS
Most of our prayer request center on our upcoming VBS Camp next week:
Please pray for all 90 children who have signed up to attend. Especially pray for God’s protection on the 47 non-believers from any persecution that the enemy will use to try to keep them away.
Please pray the believers will be strengthened in their walk with the Lord and God will give all the non-believers understanding of the Gospel. Please pray many of them will come forward during our altar call to ask Jesus into their heart.
Please pray God will give those children from Binh Chau and Suoi Bang who ask Jesus into their heart a desire to know Him more deeply and start attending our Children’s Church each Saturday.
Please pray for Pastor Tu, Pastor Hai, Quang, and Nhu Y who will be teaching the different Bible study classes at our VBS Camp.
Please pray against any attacks of the enemy during our VBS Camp, such as sickness, accidents, arguments, etc.
Please pray for a spirit of unity amongst all the adult volunteers and each will display the joy of the Lord in all they do in serving the children.
We are in the middle of the rainy season here with rain almost daily. Please pray God will once again keep any rain during our VBS Camp to occur at night as not to interrupt our daytime activities
Please pray as we teach the many adults coming from Tanh Linh that God will open up their heart to understand He is the one true living God and His love, mercy, and grace for them through His Son. Please pray for their salvation. Please pray as more people in Tanh Linh become Christians that God will open the door for us to send a missionary there to disciple them and eventually start a church there.
Please pray God will bring someone to the church that has handyman experience to be able to keep up with the maintenance required on a timely basis.
We will be starting construction of our 2nd orphanage/love house after our VBS Camp ends this summer. Please pray God will give us wisdom in our planning and favor where needed for this important/much needed project.
We praise God that into our mid 70’s He has given us good health and much energy to serve Him in Vietnam. We pray He will give us many more years, but we know there will come a time to “pass the baton”. Please pray God will raise up a person or couple for us to mentor about His work here in Binh Chau so when God “retires” us they can oversee His work here.
“How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you.” I Thessalonians 3:9
