MERCY MINISTRY AT WORK
Back in our July newsletter we asked for prayer for Thom and his family as Thom was arrested/jailed on pending drug charges. After 3 months in jail, Thom’s mother and brother were finally allowed to visit him. They were informed the investigation showed Thom was not selling drugs, but caught using them with other individuals. This meant Thom’s sentence (yet to be given) would more likely be 3-4 years in jail as opposed to life. Thom’s wife, Tu, is only 20 years old and has 3 children (Thai 5, Thien 4, and Ruth 1). During his incarceration, we have been able to come along side Tu by providing her spiritual/emotional support and mercy food boxes for her and her children. They have been living with her mother-in-law during this time. However, recently her mother-in-law left for Saigon to stay with her son to receive medical treatments. Tu and her children are still able to live in the house, but Tu is not able to work while taking care of her 2 younger children not yet in school. Her oldest son, Thai, is in school and supported through our School Sponsorship program. Tu asked Jesus into her heart at the age of 14 and has been very faithful in bringing her children to Children’s Church each Saturday and Sunday Worship. Her 2 boys are so sweet and love coming to church. We have also extended an invitation for Tu and her children to come live in our orphanage/love house while her husband is incarcerated. We are blessed to be able to reach out with the love of Jesus and provide this assistance to Tu and her family, We thank God and so appreciate your faithful prayers and support that enables us to help families like this through our mercy ministry. Please pray God will give Tu and her children His peace as He guides them through this season. Please pray God will grant Thom favor with those who decide his sentence length.
MORE MERCY MINISTRY
While visiting a man in Bung Reign (7 miles from Binh Chau), our witnessing team was told his grandson was in prison for drugs. He then introduced them to Diem (his grandson’s wife) who lived nearby with her 2 small children. Pastor Tu shared the Gospel with Diem and she asked Jesus into her heart. The last few weeks, Pastor Tu picks Diem and her 2 children up on Saturday to bring them to Children’s Church. They then spend the night at our orphanage so they can attend Sunday Worship. Then Pastor Tu takes them back to Bung Reign. We have also supplied her children with cases of milk. Please pray God will comfort Diem and provide for her family while her husband is incarcerated.
PLEASE PRAY FOR LAN
Lan, a longtime member of the Binh Chau Church, has diabetes. She has been in the hospital for several days due to high blood pressure. The church recently visited Lan (picture top right) to pray for her. We also gave her funds to help pay for her hospital stay. Doctors say Lan needs to be transferred to a hospital in Saigon for additional tests. Please pray for God’s healing touch on Lan and comfort her and her family as He guides them through their time of need.
PRAYER REQUESTS
Our Children’s Christmas Outreach will be held on December 21 and our Family Outreach on Christmas Eve. Please pray each member of the Binh Chau church will reach out and invite their non-Christian family, friends, neighbors, classmates to attend to hear the true reason Christians celebrate Christmas.
Please pray God will give those non-Christians attending our Christmas Outreaches this year understanding of the Gospel and many will come forward asking Jesus into their heart. Please pray they will also get connected to the church and attend discipleship classes.
As you seek God in your year end giving, we ask you to prayerfully consider giving to our 2nd orphanage/love house building fund so we might begin construction next year. This would give us the space to take in more children and separate our current girls from the boys as they enter their teenage years.
