GOD’S PRECIOUS WORD

“Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 11:18-19

We thank God for the privilege (and responsibility) of teaching our children living in our orphanage/love house His precious Word. We begin each school day with a time of worship and Bible study and end the day by reading 3-4 chapters as a group. In addition, they all attend Children’s Church on Saturday evening and Sunday morning Worship. As mentioned in our last newsletter, all the children (except the 2 youngest) can now recite in order all 66 books of the Bible. They are also given 5 Scriptures each week to memorize. Plus, they are given a chapter to read during the week by themselves and be prepared to discuss/answer questions when we get together on Sunday afternoons (picture above). We just started studying the book of Exodus. It may sound like they spend all their time sleeping, going to school, and reading God’s Word. Don’t worry as they have plenty of play time, including soccer, basketball, badminton, etc. It’s amazing how much time they have on their hands without a television or cell phone (only our 16 and 17-year-old are allowed to have one) to entertain them. As we do our small part of immersing these precious children in God’s Word, we know God will do His part as given to us in Proverbs 22:6 “Teach a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

We praise God and thank each of you for your faithful prayers and support that allows us to show and share the love of Jesus to His precious children here.

LOCAL MERCHANT DONATION

Whenever Mai or Kim go to the Binh Chau market, they are very popular with the ladies who sell there as they know they buy larger quantities for the orphanage/love house. One lady has a stand where she sells clothing, which Mai and Kim have purchased from her before. A couple of weeks ago this lady dropped by the church and donated 2 big bags of new clothing for the orphanage/love house and some adult clothes as well (picture above). This was the first time any local merchant has ever donated to the church.

CLOSE QUARTERS

How many people can we fit into our church’s 9 seat passenger van? We held our Friday night small group Bible study at Mr. and Mrs. Ba Quang’s house in Suoi Bang (about 20 miles from Binh Chau) a few weeks ago. We had more people show up at the church for a ride there. It took a little bit of maneuvering, but we finally fit everyone inside our van. Yes, all 23 of us (picture above)!

MISSIONS TEAM VISIT

A missionary couple from Puerto Rico who live/serve in the central Vietnam city of Dalat have visited us in Binh Chau a couple of times this past year. They had a short term missions team (2 people from Puerto Rico and 1 from Thailand) stay with them for a couple of weeks. They told them of God’s work here in Binh Chau and they asked to come visit. We had a sweet time of fellowship (picture above). They had visited another orphanage and were impressed with ours as they stated, we were not only providing for their physical needs, but raising them in a Christian family environment. To God be the Glory!

PASTOR RECOMMENDATION

We met with a pastor recommended to us who just graduated from a Presbyterian Bible College. He spent a weekend with us, observing Children’s Church and preaching at Sunday Worship. We hope to have some good news to share about him next month.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Pastor Liem will be spending the month of November with us here in Binh Chau. Please pray, as we get to know him better and he learns about God’s work here, God will give us wisdom, discernment, and clarity as to His purpose in bringing us together. We pray he is God’s answer to our prayers to provide us with a man of God who can teach the deep spiritual truth of God’s Word and has a heart for children.

Please pray God will provide us a solution for our water issues. We are pretty sure we will have to drill a new well much deeper than our current one. Please pray God will lead us to the right company to drill and whether to hook up to our current filtration system or lay new piping directly to our holding tanks.

Please pray for God’s protection to be on our children living in our orphanage/love house as they are surrounded by non-believers while at school. May God give them favor and use them to influence others for Jesus.

“How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you.” 1 Thessalonians 3:9
