PREPARING THE NEXT GENERATION TO SERVE
The older youth continue to grow in their walk with the Lord under Elder Nhan’s leadership. Their group has grown from 4 a year ago to 23 students now. Most of these kids had rough lives, but people now marvel at the changes God has made in their lives. They are filled with the joy of the Lord and eager to share Jesus with young and old alike. God has instilled in them through Elder Nhan the truth of Matthew 5:16 “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
Every Sunday afternoon the Youth Group can be seen pedaling their bikes through the streets of Binh Chau to visit people and trusting in the guidance of the Holy Spirit for Divine Appointments. The picture on the left shows 2 of the youths sharing the Gospel with a lady they have encountered at the marketplace. The fact that this lady (a complete stranger) is taking the time to listen to these 2 kids tell her about Jesus demonstrates that God is at work preparing the hearts of those He has called to be His children.
BIBLES AND HYMN BOOKS
We want to thank all of you who contributed to purchasing more Bibles and Hymn books (picture upper right) for the Binh Chau church. Each new member is given one of each. These Bibles have a story within itself of God’s work in our lives when we don’t even know Him yet. Just a few short years ago, Caesar would not allow Bibles to be brought into the country for distribution. Now these Bibles we purchased are printed in country by Caesar. In this way Caesar is able to track how many are printed and where they are distributed. God works in mysterious ways as they are unknowingly evangelists in spreading the Gospel throughout Vietnam.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:8-12 PRAISE THE LORD!!!
FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST
The above pictured family (upper center) were generational Catholics mixed with ancestral beliefs. They are a very poor family with 4 children. The husband works as a bricklayer making about $4 a day in wages. They came to the Binh Chau church for the Christmas Evangelistic Outreach. They came forward and prayed to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior that night. Since then, the church has visited them and explained more deeply the Gospel. Because of your prayers and giving to support God’s work in Binh Chau, the church was able to help them with some much needed food. God has opened their eyes and hearts to His truth and they are attending church with their 4 children now each week. There are many more families such as this one in Binh Chau. We thank God for using you/us to make a difference in their lives, one family at a time.
Please pray that God’s protection would be on this precious family to remain faithful in their worship of Him.
Please pray that God will open the door for many more families like this one to know thE love of Christ through the congregation of the Binh Chau church.
SMALL GROUP BIBLE STUDIES
The picture (above left) shows Tien conducting one of the 3 newly formed Small Group Bible Studies. Tien, Mr. Nhan, and Kim are the 3 Group Leaders. These 3 leaders have been identified by Pastor Chinh as showing, not only an understanding of God’s Word, but a desire to share what they have learned with others. All 3 have attended the Bible Discovery School (made possible by your contributions over the past 2 years) and have accepted the challenge of discipling others in their walk with the Lord. They are studying the Book of Judges. Kathy Hyde from CFC has graciously allowed us to translate and send the church in Vietnam her study lessons on Judges. Please pray that God will use this small group setting to form a stronger bond within the group, provide the opportunity for more involvement in discussions, and give each member a hunger and thirst to read and understand God’s Word more.
Pastor Chinh and Elder Nhan visit/oversee each group. The members are really excited about this type of teaching that allows them to participate, ask questions, and share their understanding of God’s Word with the group. Afterwards, they share a potluck meal and fellowship with each other.
