FAITH COMES FROM HEARING THE MESSAGE

THOM PRAYING TO RECEIVE JESUS

Thom (picture to the left) is an 84 year old woman who Elder Nhan and Mai shared the Gospel with about a week ago. Thom had never heard the name of Jesus before, but that day God opened up her eyes and heart to His love and mercy. Thom bowed her head and asked Jesus into her heart as her personal Lord and Savior.

Mai told me the tears streamed down her face (Mai’s) as Thom reminded her of her grandmother (who raised Mai) who died almost 30 years ago without anyone ever coming to tell her about Jesus. We are so thankful that, through your prayers and support, we can tell these precious people in Binh Chau the amazing story of the Gospel.

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent?” Romans 10:14-15a

CAMONCHUA

ELDER NHAN TEACHING THE YOUTH

Mai reports that the church is going along as normal and we give God ALL the glory. There have been no disruptions with Pastor Chinh returning to Laos. Attendance at Sunday Worship has been averaging 80-85. Children’s Church attendance on Saturday night

PHOUC TEACHING THE LITTLE ONES

has been around 45-50 with our highest number of kids yet this last Saturday (63). The above picture on the left shows Elder Nhan teaching the older youth while Phouc (lower right picture) teaches the little ones. Bible studies are going well on Tuesday and Wednesday nights with 25-38 attending. The picture below shows one of the Friday night

SMALL GROUP BIBLE STUDY

small group Bible studies that meet in different people’s houses. Mai has spent many hours, with the church leadership, visiting the homes of believers/non-believers, with God giving them many opportunities to share the Gospel and several people praying to receive Jesus into their hearts.

We have been able to purchase an additional 3 meters of land to the left of the church and 50 meters behind the church. This will enable us to expand in the future as more classroom space is needed for our growing church. We want to thank all of you who have prayed and financially supported this as it is truly an answer to prayer.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Please pray for God to prepare the hearts of
the Hebrew children (non-believers) and
their parents to accept Jesus as their Lord and
Savior during this year’s VBS.

Please pray that God’s mighty hand will
protect those children signed up to attend
against sickness and accidents.

Please pray that God will raise up more than
enough adults to serve during the VBS.

Please pray that God will give Elder Nhan
favor with Caesar and he will given
permanent residency in Binh Chau..

Please pray for Elder Nhan that God will
establish the work of His hands in him and
give him favor with the brothers and
sisters in the Binh Chau church.

Please pray for God’s wisdom and
discernment as we seek His guidance in
finding a new pastor to oversee the church.

Please pray for travel mercies as I leave on
June 2 to join Mai for a month in working
with the church.

VBS UPDATE

We now have 153 kids signed up to attend VBS on June 8-10 and they all have sponsors, except for 3. We thank God for touching so many of your hearts to give generously to see the children who are believers strengthened in their walk with Jesus and to see the non-believers (about 80) hear about the unconditional love Jesus has for them.

Plans are being finalized and 17 adults have volunteered to help so far. Elder Nhan will oversee the older youth. Kim will teach the middle youth grades and Phouc, Elder Nhan’s wife, will teach the little ones. Mai will oversee the kitchen and help prepare all the meals. Mr. Ba Phouc and I (Dennis) will oversee security for the children (all 153 will stay at the church day and night for the 3 days).

There will also be some councelors coming to help from Elder Nhan’s previous church in Saigon. The kids are really starting to get excited, as well as us to be a part of the VBS and witness firsthand the work of the Holy Spirit in drawing these precious children to Jesus.

About This Site

Jesus in Vietnam Ministries, is a compassion ministry founded by Dennis and Mai Spencer. Vietnamese families suffer from deprivation, lacking sometimes even the necessities of life. In obedience to the many Scriptural commands to help the poor they are enabling families to survive in difficult circumstances. When shown mercy these families are very receptive to the Gospel. The Spencer’s also focus on children, who are the future church of Jesus Christ in Vietnam. Watch The Video About Jesus In Vietnam Ministries Here
