EASTER BLESSINGS

On Good Friday the Binh Chau Church held a service to remember what Jesus did for us on the cross. Elder Nhan shared the Gospel and gave an altar call afterwards. The picture above  shows the 4 people who came forward to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Dai, the boy in black, was invited to church by one of his friends who attends Children’s Church. God touched Dai’s heart, not only to come forward to pray, but to return home and tell his mother about Jesus and the love and joy he received from the people at church. He asked his mother if she would go to the Easter Sunday Worship with him. Not only did she go with him, but she also came forward to accept Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Praise God as 8 people accepted Jesus during Easter week. 83 attended the Easter Sunday Worship and then enjoyed a fellowship meal afterwards.

TYPHOON HITS BINH CHAU

Two weeks ago Binh Chau was hit with a typhoon over 3-4 days. Many houses were destroyed, including the homes of 3 Binh Chau church families. We thank God that no one was injured and many of the families came to the church for refuge during the storm, since it is made of bricks, not tarp, wood, and aluminum siding like their homes. After the storm, the brothers in the church came together to rebuild Mr. Ba Quang’s house (picture above). The house church that we planted last year in Hiep’s house in Saigon sent some money to help with those in need from the storm. The church will help rebuild the other 2 houses as funds become available. For now, these families are staying with their neighbors

VBS 2012 UPDATE

We are working with the Binh Chau church to finalize plans for the VBS to be held on June 5-7. We have been praying for 130 kids to attend this year and we have 124 signed up so far. We will be seeking sponsors for these children the next 3 Sundays at Catalina Foothills Church. God has put it in our hearts to take the kids to the amusement park in Saigon the third day of VBS as this is such a powerful tool in drawing non-believers to attend VBS. Please pray that God will provide the extra funds necessary to do this. We are excited to be taking 10 people with us this year to help with the VBS (7 of us from CFC).

HOW AWESOME GOD WORKS

Every week the Binh Chau church sends us pictures of the kids that signed up for VBS that week. When Nancy Lupo (our JIV Focus Team Leader) saw #113 Thuan she told Mai that picture really speaks to me and wondered what the Lord will do in his life? Before Mai could ask Elder Tu, he shared this story: Last month Phu, a 12 year old boy (church member), was severely beaten by his drunken father and ran away from home. After missing for 4 days, his grandmother called the church for help in finding him. The church was able to find him and take him to his grandmother’s house. One of his friends asked Phu what he would do if his father gets drunk again and threatens him. Phu said he might go to stay at the church where the people are so kind and loving. We always sing and have so much fun every Saturday at Children’s Church. We learn about God the Father and His son Jesus and pray to God. They also feed us good soups. Phu then invited his friend, Nghia (16 years old), to come to Children’s Church with him. Nghia did and prayed to receive Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Nghia then shared with his friend, Thuan (12 years old), how much fun church was and invited Thuan to come with them. Thuan asked his mother, but his mother said no. Thuan then kept begging his mom until she finally said “ok go ahead”. Thuan came to church with his siblings last week.

About This Site

Jesus in Vietnam Ministries, is a compassion ministry founded by Dennis and Mai Spencer. Vietnamese families suffer from deprivation, lacking sometimes even the necessities of life. In obedience to the many Scriptural commands to help the poor they are enabling families to survive in difficult circumstances. When shown mercy these families are very receptive to the Gospel.
