ATLANTA TRIP UPDATE JULY 2011

We thank God for He is faithful.

Deep River Books, the publisher of Mai’s book, invited Mai to attend the International Christian Retail Show in Atlanta last week as one of their featured authors. Not only were Mai and I able to go, but we were able to take Paul and Dixie Phillips with us. Paul has pastored the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Floyd, Iowa (population 350) for the last 30 years. Dixie, his wife, was the ghost writer for Mai’s book.

This was a new, exciting, and blessed experience for us. It started off with an author’s dinner on Sunday night. After dinner all 21 authors there stood up one at a time to give a brief summary of their book. Mai, led by the Holy Spirit, brought many to tears as she told how God has worked in her life.

The next day Mai was scheduled for book signings. The response to her first book signing was so overwhelming (Mai signed almost a 100 books) that she didn’t have any books to sign on the second day. We were able to walk around and make connections with many Christian organizations. A lady at the TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network) booth took one of Mai’s books and said she would get it to the people at TBN who decide what guests to have on their network and what books to promote.

Mai was scheduled for 2 television interviews to discuss her book. The first was on Watchman Broadcasting, a Christian cable station that broadcasts to 123 countries. Mai and I were interviewed by the CEO/Executive Producer, Dorothy Spaulding, for her show, By the Book .The interview was taped in two 12 minute segments for a 30 minute program to be telecast sometime over the next year. The interview went well and we pray that God’s name was glorified with every word we spoke.

The second television interview was with Atlanta’s 57 WATC, a Christian station owned by Gospel singer, Bobby Mason. This was suppose to be a 30 minute interview, but went a little longer than that. It was such a divine appointment as we had an immediate connection with the host, Sherry Tatum. As Mai spoke of the loss of our 3 children, Sherry began to tear up as she informed us she had lost her son 3 years ago. We could feel the pain Sherry was still experiencing and God gave us the opportunity to minister to her how God had given us His peace and strength, not only to face our tragedies, but to allow Him to turn what Satan meant for evil into good for God’s glory. After the interview there were plenty of hugs and tears by all.

We were so blessed to have had many opportunities to share what God has done in our lives and have such a sweet time of fellowship with Pastor Paul and Dixie. We thank all of you who lifted us up in prayer as we felt covered by the Holy Spirit the whole time in Atlanta. We pray that God will continue to open the doors for Mai’s book to show that God is sovereign and our hope and trust rests solely on Him.

“Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts.” Psalm 145:3-4

“But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8
