A FAITHFUL SERVANT’S REWARD
The local Binh Chau government has a program to help the very needy, who own a piece of land, but live in a very poor quality house. The government gives the family around $1,500 of materials (bricks, cement, aluminum for roofing) to build a new house. Minh, a long time member of the Binh Chau Church who serves faithfully as our security guard at Children’s Church each week, was recently chosen to receive one of these gifts. Cam On Chua (Thank You Lord)! This is just enough to build a small home, but it gives them a big jump in quality and security. As you can see from the picture above their old house was made from heavy black rubber tarp nailed to wooden poles. His new house (picture below) is constructed of bricks, aluminum roofing, and tiled floors. A lot of the labor was done by 3 or 4 men from the Binh Chau Church to keep labor costs at a minimum. Plus, through our Mercy Ministry, we gave Minh another $900 in materials to build an indoor bathroom (toilet, sink, and shower). They had neither an indoor or outdoor bathroom in their old house. What an Awesome God we serve!

FUTURE EVANGELISTS
About 4 years ago we trained some of our high school and older middle school children in how to share the Gospel. It’s still against the law to evangelize outside the walls of the church, but the local officials don’t pay much attention to children, which opens the door for them to freely go out and share. Now we have a new group of kids wanting to learn to share Jesus with other kids so we have revived this program. The kids attend Sunday Worship and then stay afterwards to share (and help cook) a fellowship meal. Then Pastor Nhan and Nhinh teach them how to share the Gospel (picture below). In a few weeks they will be going out on Sunday afternoon seeking divine appointments to share Jesus. Please pray God will use these children as His instruments to bring many to Christ and Children’s Church.

MERCY MINISTRY VISION
Binh Chau is a place where families from other areas gravitate to in hopes of work in the fishing or farming industry. Many of these families move to Binh Chau with nothing but the hope for a better life. God has given us a vision of building a few (5 to 10) 1 room apartments (each with a small bathroom) to provide some of these needy families with a place to stay, either rent free or for a very small amount, until they get their feet on the ground. In meeting this basic need, we would have the opportunity to share Jesus with them and introduce them to the Binh Chau Church.

SWEET, SWEET THANH
Our featured Children of Promise child this month is our sweet Thanh. Thanh is 13 years old and she has been coming to Children’s Church for about 5 years now. She is very smart and always has a big smile on her face. Thanh has a servant’s heart and loves to share the Gospel (picture above). 3 years ago Thanh shared with us she was fearful her mother would leave her with relatives because she couldn’t feed both her and her younger brother. We told her we didn’t think that would happen, but if it did, we would gladly take her into the church. When we were in Binh Chau last summer, Thanh spent the night with us at our love house. Thanh told us her mother had went to work in Saigon and left her with her aunt. Her aunt treated Thanh very badly because she was a Christian. Her aunt told her if she went to Children’s Church, the door would be locked when she came home at night. We asked Thanh where she stayed when that happened. Thanh said she would stay at different friend’s houses. Then her aunt moved away from Binh Chau and Thanh was able to return to her aunt’s home. She had been living there lately by herself at the age of 12! Mai asked her if she was afraid and Thanh said sometimes. Her mother sent her only about $10 a week to eat on. Thanh said she would go to the market and eat whatever the cheapest food she could find. What a blessing it was to be able to take Thanh into our love house and shower her with the love of Jesus.

PRAYER REQUESTS
Please pray for Godly wisdom and discernment for Pastor Nhan and the rest of the Binh Chau Church leadership that all decisions they make will bring glory to God.

Please pray God will open the door for us to be able to build the mercy ministry apartments to help needy families in Binh Chau.

Please pray God will continue to give us favor with the local authorities as they see the love and compassion the church has for those in need.

Please pray God will strengthen our brothers and sisters in Christ in Vietnam to stand firm in their faith against all the persecution they recently faced from family/friends during the Chinese New Year celebrations.

As we start to plan for this summer’s VBS, please pray God will lead us to the children He has already selected to attend so they might know of His love and mercy for them.

“How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you.”
1 Thessalonians 3:9

About This Site

Jesus in Vietnam Ministries, is a compassion ministry founded by Dennis and Mai Spencer. Vietnamese families suffer from deprivation, lacking sometimes even the necessities of life.
