BAPTISMS IN THE SEA

With several new children accepting Jesus during the Christmas Outreaches, Pastor Nhan has been sharing the Gospel more in detail at Children’s Church to clarify any questions the kids may still have. Last month he asked any child who wanted prayer for assurance or to rededicate their heart to Jesus to come forward. 33 kids came forward. Each one was taken aside individually by an adult or older youth, their questions answered, and then prayed for. On January 24th, 28 of these children stayed after Sunday Worship, enjoyed a fellowship meal together, and then went to the beach. The picture above shows Pastor Nhan praying with these kids as they arrived at the beach and then he baptized each one in the South China Sea (picture of one baptism below). Afterwards, they all enjoyed a couple of hours playing/picnicking on the beach. The Lord truly gave them a blessed day. We thank God for each of these children. Please pray God will instill in these children a deeper desire to know Him, to serve Him, and to tell others about Him. We thank each of you for showing the love of Jesus to these precious children through your prayers and support.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP TRAINING

With 70-80 children at Children’s Church most Saturdays, it can be challenging to keep everyone focused where they should be. Pastor Nhan recently started a youth leadership training program that will help solve this challenge. Pastor Nhan, Kim, and us identified 10 of our high school youth for this training. Each Sunday afternoon, those who can, meet at Pastor Nhan’s house (picture above) for a time of worship, training, and fellowship. These 10 youth leaders (along with some adults) were divided into 2 person teams to help supervise/teach a group of 10-12 kids each Saturday at Children’s Church. Even after a couple of weeks, Pastor Nhan told us there was vast improvement in the kids listening and paying attention at Children’s Church. Plus, the youth leaders are excited to be able to serve to help mentor the younger children. Please pray for Trang (from Binh Chau), Thao, Hoa, Lan, Ty Troung, Yen, Le, Trang (from Tan Thang), Hoa Bien, and Minh as they serve as these leaders.

ONE FAMILY AT A TIME

Last summer we met Mrs. M and God gave Mai the opportunity to share the Gospel with her. Praise God as Mrs. M asked Jesus into her heart. We then discovered that Mrs. M’s husband is a Caesar official. When we left Binh Chau the end of December, Mrs. M came with us to Saigon as she asked us to stop by another town to share the Gospel with her cousin. Her cousin had recently visited Mrs. M and started asking her questions why she got up at 4 am to read her Bible? Her cousin lived deep in the jungle, and at times we didn’t know if our car was going to be able to get there, but God directed our way as He had a divine appointment for us. Mai shared the Gospel and Mrs. M’s cousin asked Jesus into her heart. We then went to Saigon where we met with Tuyen, Mrs. M’s daughter. Mai shared the Gospel with T….. and she also asked Jesus into her heart. Since government offficials can’t be Christians, Mrs. M has secretly been attending the Binh Chau Church. Recently, T…. asked her father to let her mother openly go to church and he agreed! God is good! All the time!

SCRIPTURE MEMORIZATION

During 2015, each week at Children’s Church each child is given a Bible verse to memorize for the coming week. The next Saturday they have to be able to recite it and write it down from memory. At the end of the year we had 20 kids who had memorized all 52 Bible verses for the year. These 20 kids were then rewarded with a trip to the KFC (picture above) in Ba Ria, a 45 minute bus ride from Binh Chau. They enjoyed lunch and playing games at the arcade afterwards. Many of the kids, who didn’t memorize all their scriptures, stated they would have tried harder if they knew we were going to take them to KFC. What joy if we could take 50 kids next year.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Please pray God will give us wisdom and discernment as we seek His guidance in finding a youth pastor to serve at the Binh Chau Church to help Elder Nhan.

Please pray God will provide someone to oversee the Children of Promise orphanage/love house as He fills it with His children.

Please pray God will provide a local Vietnamese missionary family to oversee the Suoi Bang church plant.

Please pray God will protect our Suoi Bang house church plant from the attacks of the enemy.

Please pray God will give us favor and our petition to meet at Tam Trong’s house in Suoi Bang will be approved by the local officials.

PRAISE REPORT

God has answered another prayer as we now have the 3 children staying in the orphanage/love house sponsored for this year. Praise God for His provisions.

“How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you”. 1 Thessalonians 3:9
