YEN IN THE HOSPITAL

THE FRUITS OF MICAH 6:8
From our very first visit to Binh Chau we saw the need for mercy ministry as we met family after family who struggled just to put food on the table, let alone have any emergency funds. However, we were told we could not do mercy ministry because the government and non-Christians would use that against us by saying we were “buying” people to come to church. While not meeting the everyday needs of people, we have been sensitive to those opportunities God has given us to help those in need. These opportunities have stretched from providing food for families to providing funds for a young boy to have brain surgery, and many in between. Recently, a member of the church, Yen (picture above), fell 2 stories while carrying buckets of cement for bricklayers. Yen broke the bone in her left arm between her shoulder and elbow completely through requiring surgery to place rods/screws for stability. The cost of the hospital/surgery came to almost $500. An insurmountable amount for a single (divorced) mother making $5-$6 a day just to put food on the table and pay the rent. Over the years God has given us favor with the government as they now recognize/compliment the church on how we take care of our brothers and sisters in Christ in their time of need. We praise God for the blessings He has given us of helping those in need and we thank God for each of you whose prayers and support allows us to show the love of Jesus through mercy ministry for His glory.

WOMEN’S DISCIPLESHIP CLASS

DISCIPLESHIP CLASSES
Over the last couple of years we have been stressing to the Binh Chau leadership the importance of developing a good discipleship program to help the congregation grow in their walk with the Lord. We hold a Wednesday night large group Bible study, 3 Friday night small group Bible studies, Bible studies in Suoi Bang and Tan Thang, and encouraged Elder Nahn and Elder Tu to make themselves available to go to individual homes to hold discipleship classes if necessary. Recently, Elder Nhan presented a great idea. He stated many people show up between 6:30-7 am on Sunday even though Worship doesn’t start until 8 am. They sit around drinking tea/coffee and fellowshipping. Elder Nhan thought since so much of the congregation comes so early, why don’t we offer discipleship classes during that time. So last month they started 4 discipleship classes; women (pictured above), men, youth, little ones. They have been well received/attended and will last 3 months. Please pray that God will give each person a strong desire to know Him more deeply and these classes will develop into permanent Sunday School classes.

FULL MOTORCYCLE

PRAY FOR PROTECTION
We bring most of the kids and many of the adults to/from church on motorcycles. The picture above center shows Elder Nhan, his family, and one other child leaving the church to go home on 1 motorcycle. How 5 people can fit on 1 motorcycle and the driver maintains balance is amazing. We recently had Dung bringing children home from the church one night and a semi-truck almost ran them off the road. Praise God as no one was injured in this close call. Please pray that God’s protection will be on the motorcycle drivers and each child they transport to/from church.

2014 VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
It’s hard to imagine that this year’s VBS is less than 3 months away on June 10-12. We (Dennis and Mai) will be leaving around the middle of May to help with preparations. We hope to be joined by our daughter, Cheree and our “adopted” daughter Jordan also. They have both attended VBS the last 3 years. Anyone interested in serving at the Binh Chau VBS this summer should plan on leaving the USA around June 3-4 and returning around June 17-18. The cost of the short-term Missions Trip would be the cost of your airline ticket (approx. $1700), visa to enter Vietnam ($125), and $1000 to JIV to cover hotels, in-country transportation, food, and incidentals. Join us and experience firsthand the amazing work God is doing through His church in Binh Chau. You will be a blessing and blessed.

PRAYER REQUESTS
Please pray with us that God will work out all the details, including the funds needed, so we can begin construction in 2014 of the new building for additional classrooms and to meet the needs of the many hurting children in Binh Chau who have no family or their family do not have the means to care for them.

Please pray God will provide the funds to purchase a van for the Binh Chau Church to safely transport children to and from the church and also pick up people from Suoi Bang and Tan Thang for Sunday Worship. Bible Study and Prayer Night.

Please pray God will raise up more people to serve in the Binh Chau Church.

Please pray God will give us wisdom and discernment in planning the upcoming VBS and provide the needed funds for VBS.

PRAYING TO RECEIVE JESUS

PRAISE REPORT
God is giving the home visitation and EE teams many opportunities to share the Gospel. The picture above shows Elder Nhan leading 3 children from Tan Thang in prayer to ask Jesus into their heart and their Lord and Savior.
